How are you doing around these rainy days? On top of the rainy weather, this year's famous Tanabata Festival is cancelled.
To help reenergize everyone's spirits, this year Kanezaki Sasakama-kan has launched the "Tanabata Project."
For this session you can experience making a lampshade from paper usually used for Sendai Tanabata decorations. Come experience traditional Japanese culture and learn the history of the Tanabata Festival. The experience is held inside the Tanabata Museum, under last year's gold prize-winning Tanabata decorations!
*This program is ONLY open to foreign residents living in Miyagi.
*The program is held 15:00-16:00 from July 23 (Thu)- July 27 (Mon).
*Limit one group of 2-4 people allowed per day (first-come, first-served).
*The event is free, however, participants are requested to share their experiences on thier own social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
*Completed lampshades are to be displayed inside the museum, however, if you want to bring one home as a souvenir, you can create two (leave one for display and bring one home).
Reservations should be made by sending an Email to organizer Kenji Sasaki: kenji-sasaki*kanezaki.co.jp (replace * with @).
Include your name, number of participants, email address, and desired date. First-come, first served. One group per day.
Sendai's Tanabata Festival is cancelled this year, but you can still experience the magic of Tanabata through this special activity! Make sure to visit the adjacent Sasakama-kan to enjoy sasakamaboko hand-grilled experience for free!
