Did you know that you can find an example of elegant teahouse architecture at "Mogasakian," located behind Dainenji-yama Park in Taihaku Ward, Sendai City? In 1965, a building located on Jozenji-dori Avenue, which was originally built in the Meiji period, was relocated and repurposed as a teahouse in Dainenji-yama Park. Every month we host programs for visitors to experience traditional Japanese culture, Sendai culture, and tea ceremony at the historical "Mogasakian" teahouse!
In the 7th installment of the series, we will hold a ceramics making lecture & tea ceremony experience at Mogasakian Teahouse.
【Guest Target】Elementary school students and older（※Elementary school students should be accompanied by a guardian.)
【No. of Participants】30 (accepted by order of application)
【Participation Fee】3,200 yen: Tea bowl, mug, teacup (500 yen included for cost of tea ceremony),
*3,900 yen: Tea bowl, beer mug (500 yen included for cost of tea ceremony)

※ For those that want their creations delivered through the mail, the cost is 1,000 yen (price for packaging and shipping).
【Things to Bring】Please bring 1 pair of clean socks to change into at the entrance to the teahouse.
※Please wear a face mask while inside the building.
◆We will sit on the tatami mat floor, but we will also have folding chairs available. Please let us know if you need to use one at the event when you apply.

② Ceramic making experience. Choose whatever you would like to make, such as mug cups, soup cups, tea bowls, pickle pot, dressing cup, etc.
11:15 Session 1 Finishes / Break Time
11:20 Session 2 Begins “Matcha Experience”
Instructor: Urasenke Tea Master, Ono Sensei
Session 3: “View a tea ceremony which is performed with tables and chairs”
※ In order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, the group will be split into two and rotated for the experiences.

Also, visitors with over a 37.5℃ body temperature should refrain from joining the event.|
*What to bring: Please prepare "one pair of socks" to change into when you take off your shoes at the entrance.
*Folding chairs are available for those who have difficulty sitting in the tatami room, so please let us know when you apply if you need them.

|Access||【Municipal Bus】Board the bus bound for "Wild Plants Garden (Yasoen)" at bus stop No. 6 at the Sendai Station West Bus Pool. Get off at the final stop, "Yasoen-mae," then walk 5 minutes.|

・Room for 10 cars (parking shared with Senan, free).
・On days these programs take place, participants may use the Yasoen botanical gardens parking lot as well.
