This ecotour focuses on the history of Japanese architecture and the surrounding natural environment.
*The tour is offered in English, but simple Japanese can be included.
First we'll take a look around Konosu Onsen, a hot spring facility with a century-old history. The guide will point out architectural/design features and make comments about preservation and renewal work. You'll also learn how people lived in the old days, such as how they kept warm in winter and preserved food.
Next we'll walk along the Natori River to understand what a valuable resource it is. The river helps generate electricity, offers water for daily human activities, and helps raise fruits, vegetables, and livestock.
Akiu Canada will develop into an environmentally friendly place for people to play. We want to share our message of coexistence with nature through this tour.
* Please call ahead before you visit (same day is OK). Canadian owner "Steve" or guesthouse staff will greet you. Tours are offered weekdays and Sundays (10:00-16:00), and rainy day Saturdays (10:00-16:00).
