Visit Zao Sake Brewery (southern Miyagi Prefecture) where young brewers are attracting attention by the way they make sake. The brewers’ youth, friendliness, and family-like bond do not seem to match the image of a "long-established sake brewery". The young brewers are forward thinking. They try new ideas while learning and protecting tradition.
Next we will discover “Zao Cuisine,” made of mainly local ingredients, including vegetables grown by the owner, to pair with the local sake. "Zao Cuisine Norakushin", a place that is hard to access without a car, is a pleasant hideaway. There we will enjoy a special course coordinated by sake sommelier Kumi Hayasaka.
Itinerary: JR Sendai Station East Exit Bus Pool ⇒Kojuro no Sato (rest stop & shopping) ⇒ Zao Sake Brewery, Zao Cuisine Norakushin ⇒ Sendai Station East Exit Bus Pool (finish).
