Leave the big city to enjoy beautiful nature in the Japanese countryside. Let's get away to the countryside near Sendai. Akiu area is close to downtown Sendai, only one hour by bus or car from Sendai Station. We run along Natori River where there is almost no traffic. We will run in some scenic areas, such as Akiu Great Falls, Rairaikyo Gorge (scenic area), and many scenic back streets. We can also visit some souvenir shops where you can purchase local craft products such as kokeshi (wooden dolls). Besides that, we can join some local events including salsa dance, music venue, etc. at night in Sendai area if you wish. The program can be customized depending on what the participants are interested in. In addition to Akiu area, there are some other places near Sendai where we can enjoy running, onsen, and local foods. Thus, if you attend alone or are a group of two, I can pick you up.

This program is for fit runners. You should be able to run 10 km without any breaks. Please wear running shoes and wear, and bring drinks and food. We meet in the Akiu area, downtown Sendai, or your hotel in the morning and run around enjoying nature for 10 km. After 10km of running, we enjoy a hot spring session at a local Onsen for about an hour then have a tasty lunch. There is a 10 minute-long moxibustion or lymphatic massage available afterwards for no additional charge.

*Reservations and sign-ups accepted by midnight on the day before the day. Local residents are able to participate for half-price in return for volunteer work. Please contact for details.

Just outside the city center are mountains, farmland, and forests!
