A lot of creatures live inside rice fields and their surrounding waterways, ridges and reservoirs. Immediately after rice fields are filled with water is when you can see many small creatures such as daphnia, which you usually only see in science textbooks. However, since these creatures are so small, they are rarely visible with the human eye, even when caught. At this event, you will be able to observe these small creatures carefully using a handmade, “hand-held microscope.” Through this observation, you can have fun while learning that many creatures live in rice fields and understand the deep connection between farming and wildlife.
