Make miniature Tanabata decorations while learning the meaning of each decoration. The Tanabata festival is held around Japan, but Sendai’s is the biggest and most famous. Here inside the Tanabata Museum you can enjoy the world of Tanabata, often called the “Star Festival,” all year round. Children can also easily create the decorations as Japanese paper is simply folded like a kind of origami.

Reservation System:
Reservation is required due to materials preparation.

Make a reservation at the receptionist:
Reservations accepted at the information desk in the cafe on the 1st floor of the Sasakamakan. Please register 20 minutes before the start time.

The program takes about 1 hour.

Take the Tozai subway line to “Arai Station.” From there you can walk 25 minutes, or use a bus.

Board the bus bound for "Wakabayashi Gymnasium / Tobu Industrial Area" at bus stop No. 16 at the Arai Station bus pool. Alternatively, board the bus bound for "Okada/Arahama" at bus stop No. 18. In either case, depart at “Oroshi-machi Higashi 5 Chome Kita” bus stop
