Atelier Sennichiko: Making a "Ikkan-bari" Basket Bag
Let's make a one-of-a-kind work of art by combining traditional washi paper or old cloth with baskets using "ikkan-bari," a traditional craft.
All year round.
Session 1: About 5 hours // Session 2: About 2 hours (total time: about 7 hours)
Number of Participants
Ikkan-bari is a traditional craft in which washi paper is stretched over bamboo baskets and wooden objects, and then coated with “kakishibu” (persimmon tannin used for strength and protection against water). At Atelier Sennichiko, you can try ikkan-bari using authentic washi paper, or old kimono cloth.
