Mid-December marked the first snowfall in the Gateway to Tohoku, Sendai! Winter has arrived!

From now until mid-March, you'll by able to enjoy various snow activities in Sendai, Miyagi and Yamagata. Besides skiing and snowboarding, you can go sledding, ride a banana boat, or go trekking into the world of "Snow Monsters!" Make sure to visit Sendai during December and January to see our famous "Hikari no Pageant" illumination. Pass under the dazzling trees lining Jozenji-dori Avenue with a romantic stroll or by hopping on the LOOPLE sightseeing bus for a magical ride.

If the cold just isn't for you, warm-up with cup of warm matcha at a tea ceremony held at a historic shop right in the middle of downtown.
