Welcome to Kanegendo! Founded in 1811, our family-run shop specializes in new and antique tea utensils. In order to spread the charm of Japanese tea culture, we wish to offer a matcha-making experience for visitors.
After being warmly welcomed by our staff, we will guide you to the tea room on the 2nd floor. A staff member will explain about Japanese tea room design (tokonoma, etc.) and Japanese tea. Then, you will have the opportunity to try making matcha green tea yourself!
You can also enjoy a seasonal sweet when drinking matcha. View and touch the high quality tea utensils. Since our staff specialize in tea utensils, we can also explain how the tools are made and who made them.
We welcome people who are interested in teaware and crafts, whether they come from the local area or from overseas.
