Ganesh Co., Ltd., selects the highest quality Darjeeling and Assam teas each season through tea tastings. These teas are purchased at tea auctions under the supervision of Tea Board India and are distributed nationwide in Japan under the brand "Shincha no Koucha"®.
Back in 1983, when Ganesh was founded, the common belief in Japan and worldwide was that tea could only be delicious when blended. Even today, the industry standard is to blend various tea leaves to provide a stable flavor.
However, Ganesh's founder realized that some of the highest quality teas are exceptional on their own, without blending. This led to the innovative approach of delivering seasonal teas, classified by factors such as estate, harvest season, variety, tree age, and processing method, directly from the auction without blending.
While "Shincha no Koucha"® can be found in stores from Hokkaido to Okinawa, the only directly managed Ganesh store is in Sendai. At the Ganesh Tearoom on Jozenji-dori, overlooking the symbolic zelkova trees, you can fully enjoy the exquisite Darjeeling tea of "Shincha no Koucha"®.
