Matcha Grinding Experience at Mogasakian Teahouse
Grind your own tea with a stone mill. We will also introduce a rare stone mill made from "Sendai Castle Stone!"
November 22, 2020 (Sun)
About 2 hours.
Number of Participants
In the 6th installment of the series, we will hold a "freshly ground matcha” experience workshop where tea leaves are ground with a stone mill then prepared for a cup of green tea.
During this unique experience you can grind tencha (raw tea leaves before making powdered matcha) with a stone mill and immediately make the tea with it. Freshly ground matcha, which is made by grinding with a stone mill specifically created to grind matcha, has a completely different taste from usual matcha. In fact, there are very few professional tea ceremony practitioners who have experienced using a stone mill. You’ll have the chance to experience this at the historic and atmospheric Mogasakian teahouse. After experiencing the stone mill, you will be asked to compare the tea actually ground with the stone mill with the commercially available tea.
